Well, Kim Jong Il is dead and it's a big day in history. I can't believe I was and am in South Korea when it happened. I heard the news while we were eating lunch. Our principal came into the office with joy on her face and it was a modest yet meaningful mini celebratory moment. Jim and I watched some CNN videos about it. The first one was showing North Koreans very emotional and upset/crying about his death. The others were more of an overlook from a Westerner's point of view. I am looking forward to hearing what Obama will say about it. I don't know what this means for South Korea, but I do know that the military is on alert. I however don't feel concerned about anything yet. Basically, I'll be reading the mood in South Korea for the next few days in order to determine what's next. In the meantime, I will hope for something new in North Korea. I will hope for change.

Let's hope cool heads prevail all around.
